Québec keeps a fuller record than this one. The Registre des entreprises publishes each registered business’s directors, officers and ultimate beneficiaries — the ownership question no federal source answers in bulk. It is not reproduced here: it is published under a licence forbidding commercial use and requiring derivatives to carry the same terms, which this project will not impose on the open data it is joined to. Search it directly: Registre des entreprises du Québec. Why it is not used here.

Deep record

This scores the depth of the public evidence assembled here. It does not score the organisation’s quality, reputation, solvency or risk. The formula is fixed and reproducible. See the formula.

Public footprint · version 1

Where this organisation appears in public records

Eight independent dimensions describe the size and shape of the evidence. They are deliberately not added into one company score: a licence, a grant, a director filing and a court finding mean different things.

Footprint is not performance.

A larger bar means more public records of that kind. It does not mean better, worse, safer, larger, more profitable or more reputable.

Filed by the charity itself with the Canada Revenue Agency, under the Open Government Licence. This is the narrowest slate the source publishes — name, position, and tenure only; no address, phone, or email exists in the file to withhold. Why this is published and directors’ home addresses never are.

Organisations sharing a filed director name (6)

Every one of these rests on a single name in common, which is the weakest form this evidence takes — read them as leads, not findings.

One name in common is a lead. Two is a link. These come from the director names each organisation filed with the Canada Revenue Agency, matched exactly as filed, and two people can share a name — across the whole corpus 95% of these rest on a single name, so a single match is genuinely weak evidence and is presented as such rather than dressed up. Two of the same names on the same pair of boards is a different matter: coincidence stops being a plausible explanation. A name appearing on more than eight boards is discarded outright as a probable collision.

The link is between organisations and carries only a count. Which people sit on which board stays on each organisation’s own page, exactly as the CRA published it, and there is deliberately no way here to search by a person or to list what one individual is involved in. Why that line is drawn there.

These are the charity’s own figures. They come from the T3010 return it filed with the Canada Revenue Agency, which is a statement the organisation makes about itself rather than an audit or an assessment of it. They are also a single year: a charity that received a capital gift, sold a building, or ran a campaign will look unlike itself.

A low share spent on programs is not by itself evidence of anything. Fundraising costs money, a year of building a reserve looks like underspending, and grant-making foundations pass money onward rather than running programs. The lines are shown as filed, with the CRA line numbers, so a reader can check them against the return.

Value as published, not money paid. The federal contract value field includes the ceiling of standing offers and supply arrangements — purchasing capacity a department may never draw on. A large figure here can mean a large ceiling rather than a large payment.

Awards are attached to this record only where the evidence identifies exactly one organisation: a name and postal area that narrow to a single company, or a name unique across the whole national corpus. Proactive publication truncates the vendor postal code to three characters, so anything that could belong to more than one company is left unattached rather than guessed at. Totals are a floor in that direction. The full rules.

——Organisme à but non lucratif——
This is a different fact from public money above: a standing offer or supply arrangement means the government has pre-agreed to buy specific goods or services from this organisation at set terms if it chooses to — it does not mean any money has changed hands. The source publishes only currently active agreements and carries no dollar figure at all, unlike the contract value field, which sometimes states a ceiling rather than a payment. How this is attached.

Industry code
810000
North American Industry Classification System
Trade and licence class are the publisher’s own words, kept as written rather than mapped onto a vocabulary of this site’s invention — a Calgary “RESTAURANT” and a Montréal “Restaurant service rapide” describe the same thing and are not the same string, and pretending otherwise would put words in a city’s mouth. The industry code is the exception: NAICS is a standard shared across Canada, the United States and Mexico, so it means the same thing wherever it appears. Only some publishers assign one.

Freshness is measured, not implied. “Last captured” is when this project last completed a read of the whole source dataset. “Coverage kept” is how many immutable captures and meaningful capture-to-capture comparisons are available. A missed day remains an explicit gap; a later snapshot cannot tell us what happened inside it. See every source.
